Hello and Welcome to my blog!

Greetings! My name is Sydney and I’m a creative and diligent information professional with a passion for libraries and archives. With a Master’s degree in Library and Information Science from San Jose State University, I focused on archives, preservation, and records management, as well as courses on digital curation, reference services, hyperlinked libraries (trends in technology), and cataloging.

Before that, I graduated from San Francisco State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Studio Arts. I then became a program coordinator for a research project that taught art inside state prisons. During this time, I developed art workshops for individuals experiencing incarceration and managed the headquarters office. One of my significant responsibilities was to care for and catalog artworks created inside prison, which ignited my passion for archiving and led me to pursue my career in the library and information science field.

As a librarian, I’ve always been passionate about helping people find the information they need. I’ve gained expertise in various areas such as reference and instruction services, event planning, youth services, program coordination, research, and fundraising. I’ve had the privilege of working in both academic and public libraries, as well as in a research project for Arts in Corrections, which has allowed me to gain a diverse set of skills.

One of the things I enjoy most about being a librarian is planning events that promote library use and support students. Whether it’s leading library orientations, designing research guides, or implementing Storytime programs for toddlers and preschoolers, I take pride in making the library a fun and engaging place for everyone.

I’m a highly adaptable problem solver, an effective critical thinker and communicator, self-motivated and confident in fast-paced working environments. I’m dedicated to lifelong learning and relationship building, which I believe are crucial to success in any career. I’m excited about the future of libraries and archives and the role they play in connecting people to information and knowledge.

Thanks for stopping by my blog and taking the time to read my bio. If you have any questions or want to connect, feel free to reach out to me!
